Orange farming by Nepal Agro Tourism has started commercial production from this fiscal year. Oranges produced by this firm have started to be made available in the market. The major markets for oranges here are Kathmandu, Charikot in Dolakha, Jiri, etc.
Nepal Agro Tourism has cultivated oranges in some areas of Melung Rural Municipality Ward No. 1 and some areas of Sailung Rural Municipality Ward No. 8 in the hilly district of Dolakha, covering about 150 ropanis. This area is suitable for orange production. Organic orange fruit production has been carried out in this garden. All these orange plants are grafted plants. Which are produced by cutting, layering, grafting using plant branches, roots, etc. The plants produced by this technology have the same properties as those of the mother plant. It bears fruit quickly, has fewer thorns, is highly tolerant to disease, and has good root development.
